BOOM!

Posted by RealMan on April 3rd, 2008

Spring has still not yet sprung but there are sure signs of it about us. The song birds have returned, the buds on the trees are showing signs of blooming soon, and it has not been below zero for about a month. The most important sign is right outside my front door. I live in The City of Minot ND and my home is right across the street from Corbett Field, the most beautiful baseball park I have ever seen. Two days ago I saw Mike. Mike is the groundskeeper of Corbett Field and he spends his winters in AZ. Mikes return is a sure sign of spring just as much as the songbirds and blooming trees. I am so ready to here the crack of the bat and cheers of the crowds as the schools and leagues come to Corbett Field.

There has been a tremendous amount of excitement around here with larger and larger estimates coming from seismologists predicting that ND may have more oil under it then Saudi Arabia! Even Rush Limbaugh was talking about it on his show yesterday (Yes I AM a Ditto Head). Over 500 drilling permits have been applied for just THISyear! Ghost towns are being resurrected, once dying towns are now busseling. It’s a well know fact that the Real Estate market is slow to react and that is even holding true here for the most part but I’m willing to guess that at the end of this current school year it will be very hard to find housing in Minot at reasonable prices. I own one rental home in town and when I placed an ad for it I rented it the same day but the phone rang non-stop as long as the ad was in the paper. Yes it rented to two oil field workers. In the past I have sold homes via the Internet and emailed pictures. I envision a lot of “sight unseen” sales in the next 5 years for our area as the Boom fully takes hold effecting business, retail, housing and rentals.
